GLASGOW COMPANY, PLADE Ltd, WINS SCOTTISH FINAL OF ISI/INTERFORUM E-COMMERCE AWARDS 1999
Plastics firm wins £5,000 in awards sponsored by ICL Scotland
and is Commended for their use of Electronic Commerce
Plade Ltd. (www.plade.com) based in Barrhead, Glasgow, has won the Scottish final of the ISI / Inter Forum E-Commerce Awards ahead of other finalists.The company manufactures specialist plastic equipment for those industries where chemical corrosion problems prevent construction using low cost metals. The company has a reputation for quality engineering in plastics materials both in heavy engineering and high-tech equipment.Products range from simple laboratory items like fume cupboards through to automated process manufacturing systems for silicon wafers. Hospital auto-disinfectors for non-invasive surgery, clean air equipment and many additional specialised products. The company manufactures specialist plastic equipment for industries where chemical corrosion problems prevent the use of low cost metals. The firm received the first prize of £5,000 at a ceremony hosted by ICL Scotland and the Information Society Initiative (ISI) at the Signet Library, Edinburgh today (Wednesday 2 June).

Announcing the winners, Scott McGlinchey, Director of ICL Scotland who chaired the judging panel, said:"ICL Scotland is proud to have sponsored the Scottish final of ISI/Inter Forum E-Commerce awards. The awards were set up by the Government-led Information Society Initiative (ISI) in order to recognise and reward best practice in the use of electronic business amongst companies with fewer than 250 employees throughout the UK.The judging panel for the awards included Scott McGlinchey of ICL Scotland, Tom Tumilty of The Scottish Office, John McCrossan of Scottish Enterprise and Jim Foreman of Siemens Business Services.
