Upward and onward for Plade Ltd Winning a place in the Finals of eBusiness Innovations International Small & Medium Enterprise Awards, Sponsored by 3Com
The innovations looked for by judges can sometimes be technological but more often they are impressed with changes to business practice - new business ideas, new ways to create market opportunities, new approaches to customer services, new ways of managing a business to gain cost saving or to add value. Unlikely combinations of ideas and partnerships have always captured the imagination - and businesses that use e-business to 'be more' instead of 'do more' are well placed to work with others to create entirely new ventures or
services.
When the judges review each finalist's presentation, they record 4 scores :-
- Challenge - what's the scale of the problem that was being tackled?
- Innovation - what's new or different about this solution?
- Achievement - what has been the result?
- Presentation - how well are the ideas explained?
The scores for Innovation are worth twice those for Challenge and Achievement. The judging panel always understands that really innovative ideas may yet have to prove themselves - but to end up with case studies that really help others to understand e-Business the judges always look for evidence of real achievements. The scores for presentation are only used to sort out tie-breaks.
The judging panel - under the Chairmanship of Dr. Colin Coulson-Thomas, is hugely experienced in the development of ebusiness.
